Grin Cynic

It was in the late 1990’s when Singer/Guitarist/Songwriter Mike Lee submitted an original three song demo tape to an independent record label for consideration. The label was impressed and asked Mike to put together a band and then get into their recording studio and record a full-length album. Mike went ahead and recruited not only great musicians but guys that all really gelled together personality wise. “We were like long lost brothers, always had a great time and created killer music together.” added Mike. The band went on to record a nine song CD titled “Demonstration” and quickly made some noise in their city of Orlando, Florida. Additionally, they had the opportunity to present their single to the nation when the band was invited to appear on the Howard Stern show live. That along with a televised live performance at New York City’s famous CBGB’s helped Grin Cynic start to put their name on the map. But, like a lot of bands, after touring the band started to go different directions musically and eventually the boys went their separate ways.

Mike kept close with Marc throughout the years and played several shows together in different bands. In 2017 Mike learned that Marc suffered a massive stroke and was permanently disabled. This was quite shocking. Mike was already in the studio recording new material but then turned his focus to putting back together Grin Cynic, recreate some of the songs, and bring to life some of the cool riffs and melodies that never made it to the original album. “I am so happy that Mike is carrying on the Grin Cynic name, and the music is living on!” Said Marc.

These five songs are a combination of original Grin Cynic music and melodies and a new and fresh approach by the works of Mike Lee. We hope you enjoy it and we will see you on the road.
